Week 2 Lessons

Well, we made it through week one! I can already tell that it is going to be a great year!
This week we will be starting our unit over metals, non-metals, and metalloids. The kids will be learning a bunch of new vocabulary, so make sure they study those at home.

Objective:Use physical properties to compare metals, non-metals, and metalloids. Students will use comparative and descriptive investigations. Students will calculate the density of regular and irregular shapes.

Monday: NO SCHOOL
Happy Labor Day

Tuesday:
– Lab Safety Quiz
– Begin Unit 2- classifying Metals, Non-Metals, and Metalloids
– Examples and non-examples

Wednesday/Thursday
LAB: Comparing metals and non-metals
-Metals, Non-Metals
-Metalloids

Friday
-Quiz over metals, non-metals, metalloids
-Calculating Density of irregular shapes

Lessons for Week 1

August23

This week we will be taking care of some “House Keeping” items. We will take some time to get to know one another, and talk about safety. The students will be getting a “science safety contract” on the first day. Please make sure this signed and brought back the next time we have class (this is a grade). We will also begin to set up our comp books on the first day, so please be sure you have one.
Remember, we meet every other day.

Monday/Tuesday
-Turn in Supplies
-Classroom Tour
-Save Fred LAB
-Science Lab Safety
-Set up Composition Book
**Homework- Review science safety with parents, returned signed next class period

Wednesday/Thursday
– Turn in contract
– Finish any science lab safety
– Finish composition books
– Explore online Text Book

Friday/Monday
