Week 26 March 16-20

March14

Welcome Back!!

I Hope you all had a wonderful Spring break! We are getting closer and closer to the end of the school year, CRAZY!! This is the last week of the 9 weeks!

This week we are finishing up force and motion, then we will quickly cover simple machines!

Objective:
Students will complete motion notes and review for upcoming quiz.
Through investigation, this lesson allows students to develop a fundamental understanding that inclined planes and pulleys affect the force needed to move an object.

Monday/Tuesday
Finsih Motion Notes
Review

Wednesday/Thursday
Quiz (distance, direction, displacement, average speed, force, velocity, acceleration)

Friday/Monday
Pulleys and inclined planes

Week 25 March 2- 6

February28

Hello,

Since last week was a little crazy, we will have to catch up this week. You students most likely has homework due next week. Maroon day classes have part 1 and 2 of walking lab and White day classes have part 1 and 2 of walking lab and Speed, velocity, and acceleration page.

Objective:
Students will investigate motion through a variety of activities in order to identify changes in position and direction and the speed of an object. Students will also graph changes in motion.

Monday:
Speed, Velocity, Acceleration (possible homework)
Motion Notes

Tuesday/Wednesday
Math/reading Benchmark

Thursday/Friday
Stomp Rockets (Hopefully)

Week 24 Feb 23-27

February21

Hello Parents and Students,

We will be continuing out study over force and motion this week, this unit will take us all the way to end of the 9 weeks. This 9 weeks ends that Friday we get back from Spring Break!

Objective: 6.8 A, B, C, D

Students will investigate motion through a variety of activities in order to identify changes in position and direction and the speed of an object. Students will also graph changes in motion.

Monday/Tuesday

Walking Dead Lab – ( A little but of Zombie fun)

Wednesday/Thursday

Acceleration and Velocity discussion
Motion Notes

Friday

Finish Motion Notes
Activity

Week 23- No School Monday! :)

February14

Hello Parents and Students,

I hope you are enjoying your much deserved 3 day weekend! 🙂

We finished up energy transfers and transformations last week, and this week we are moving on to motion and speed. We will have some math to do in this unit, so be prepared! Depending on the weather, we will try to go outside for a lab this week.

Objective: 6.8 A, B, C, D

Students will investigate motion through a variety of activities in order to identify changes in position and direction and the speed of an object. Students will also graph changes in motion.

Monday:
No School

Tuesday/Wednesday
Direction, Displacement and distance
*Notes and demonstrations

Thursday/Friday
Distance and Time Lab
-Go over unit 6 test

unit 6 test reteach will be- Wednesday during PE
retake will Thursday during PE

Week 22 – Test this week

February7

Hello,

We will be finishing up our unit on thermal energy transfer this week. Be looking for homework Tuesday and Wednesday night, as well as studying. We need to be looking over Potential and kinetc, energy forms, transformations, and thermal energy transfer. Everyone should have great notes to study, as well as a song to learn on You tube.
“Radiation, conduction, and convection song.”

Objective: 6.9

This lesson focuses on the movement of thermal energy through processes such as conduction, convection, and radiation. Students will conduct several investigations in order to gain an understanding that thermal energy moves in a predictable pattern from warmer to cooler until the substances attain the same temperature

Monday:
Convection Lab
Going to symphonic band concert at 12:30

Tuesday/Wednesday:
Review
Energy Homework
Study

Thursday/Friday
Grade Homework
Test

Week 21

January31

Hello Parents and students!

This semester seems to be going by faster than the last, I didn’t think that would be possible! I hope the kids are enjoying our energy unit, this week will be a fun one!

Objective:
This lesson focuses on the movement of thermal energy through processes such as conduction, convection, and radiation. Students will conduct several investigations in order to gain an understanding that thermal energy moves in a predictable pattern from warmer to cooler until the substances attain the same temperature.

Monday/Tuesday:
QUIZ- Potential and kinetic, energy transformations, energy types and forms.

Hot or Cold ?
Radiation Lab

Wednesday/Thursday

Convection Box Demo
Convection

Friday/Monday
Conduction Lab

**If students have any missing work they are not allowed to do labs until work in completed!

Week 20

January24

Hello Parents and Students

This week will be getting into energy transformations. This will be a fun week because we will be up and moving quite a bit! Wednesday is a Half day! 🙂

Objective: 6.9C
Students will compare and contrast potential and kinetic energy using a simple system and demonstrate energy transformations that occur within the systems.

Monday/Tuesday
Activity: Energy in a Ball
Discussion: Energy Types and forms

Wednesday/Thursday
Demonstration/Discussion- Transformations of Energy and Law of Conservation of Energy
Activity- Energy Transformations

Friday/Monday
Activity: Descriptive Investigation

Week 19 January 19-23

January16

Hello Parents and Students,

We are just about done with energy resources. We will be having our debate in the think lab on Tuesday and Wednesday, then have a quick open note test on Thursday/Friday.

I will be gone at the UIL meet on Friday

Objective: 6.7
Students research and debate the advantages and disadvantages of using specified energy resources. Students then design a logical plan to manage energy resources in the home, school, or community based on the research they have done.

Monday: No School MLK Day

Tuesday/Wednesday
Debate – Info sheet due

Thursday/Friday
Test
Vocabulary- Make sure you have your comp book.
