Week 4!

September13

Hello Parents and Students,

Time is already flying by! Last week we started learning some new concepts, and this week we will be diving into density and hopefully be able to talk about minerals on Friday. We are probably about two weeks away from our first unit test.

Objective: Students will Calculate density of a regular, measurable solid and the density of an irregular shaped solid (volume by displacement). Students will compare minerals using physical properties, such as streak, color, hardness, cleavage, and fracture.

Monday/Tuesday: Calculating Density Cont.
Triple Beam Balance and graduated cylinder practice
Density homework.

****Study Element symbols, physical properties of metals, non-metals, metalloids, and density

Wednesday/Thursday: *Homework Due
QUIZ
LAB- Calculating Density of Irregular Shapes

Friday/Monday:
Minerals
Is a Mineral or a Rock?
